What a lovely park staffed by lovely people. If you’re looking for serenity, this is the place. The 1500’ boardwalk to the river is mesmerizing, and the park is so far away from the lights and sounds of civilization, the star-gazing is the best I’ve seen since Yellowstone. The fence, gate, and remote location make this the safest-feeling park in the area. This is not a park for children (or adults for that matter) who can’t entertain themselves. The cable TV only has 6 channels and most sites are not close enough to the office to pick up the wifi signal. But if you take the pleasant stroll up to the office, you find the wifi works very well, and the office cat may even keep you company. The clubhouse is nice. The laundry is small, but functional. The restrooms are completely without frills, but are clean. Sites vary in size. The Old Town area offers little to do, but twenty minutes away, there’s a great little restaurant (inside a quilt shop) in Trenton. Cedar Key is an hour or so away, but well worth the drive for anyone interested in local art, and state parks and recreation areas highlight the natural beauty of the area.

This is an extremely large park populated primarily by retirees in “annual on sites,” “monthly metered sites,” or mobile homes. The remaining 150 or so RV sites vary tremendously in size and quality. Most sites in the Sunset Circle area are grass with concrete patios and are adequate, but the Ranch View section has extremely narrow sites and not a blade of grass. Long-termers accurately refer to it as “the sand box”. (We would not have stayed if we’d been placed there.) If you play shuffleboard, you’ll be in heaven here. Laundry was clean and large. Cable was good, but required an adapter to connect. The wifi was excruciatingly slow. For the quality of the campground and the amenities, I felt it was over-priced, and I felt absolutely gouged by the pet policy. They insisted our beagle mix was a “large dog” – anything over 12 lbs, by their definition – and charged an extra $1 per day (it’s fifty cents a day for “small dogs”). For what? A charge for cable or wifi makes sense, but they don’t provide any service for my extra pet charge. To add insult, this park had more un-scooped poop than any other we’ve seen. Also, they advertise Good Sam, but they do not honor it, nor do they discount for weekly reservations.

The most mis-named campground I’ve ever seen, Camper’s Paradise is a former KOA, but the only way you can tell is by the shape of the outside of the building. Inside, the office floor is bare concrete and was partially under water when I was there. At least one large dog and three cats roamed around the dimly lit structure as I checked in, and the whole place ABSOLUTELY REEKED of cat urine. Water, power, and sewer was serviceable, and the grass pull-through sites were relatively level, but the grounds are dismal and poorly maintained. There are huge potholes everywhere in the park. The pool appears to have been abandoned for at least one full season, possibly more, as has the playground. Campground choices are exceptionally limited in central South Carolina. Although we love Manning, we will re-route our next trip to avoid staying at this campground again.

Easy to get in and out. Level grass sites that drained amazingly well in heavy rain. Everything (cable, wifi, and full hook-ups) worked well and the lady at the front desk was very nice. We only stayed one night, but would have been happy to stay longer. We will return next time we’re in Statesboro. We did not use or even look at the laundry, restroom, shower, or pool facilities, so our rating of 9 does not reflect any opinion on those aspects.

OK, evidently Betty is the greatest party hostess ever, because the "park" in no way deserves the ratings on this site. We were scheduled to stay there, but mechanical difficulties wrecked our plans. Thank heavens!!! Since Betty's was booked by the time our rig was fixed, we ended up at Coushatta in Kinder, perfectly adequate. We drove down to Abbeville, thinking we'd reserve some time for our return trip in January. Not a chance!!! This is not an RV Park, it's Betty's back yard and RV's are crammed in there like sardines! I can't imagine trying to back our 32' 5th wheel into any of these "spaces." The place across the street is even worse. If we had to be in Abbeville, we might try a night here just to get the "Betty experience" everybody raves about, but I'd still be very concerned about trying to get our rig into such a tight space. If you have a small rig and want the social experience, enjoy! This many folks can't be wrong about what a fun girl Betty is, but if you like a little breathing room, keep driving. "WE DID NOT STAY AT THIS PARK".

These are really nice folks and they have the potential of having an exceptional park, but they are so focused on building/expanding/improving, that they are not maintaining what they already have. There were dead plants everywhere (grass, trees, potted plants), although it had obviously been gorgeous when planted, especially the overgrown water feature and the sitting area with fountain. The showers and restrooms were beautiful, but in a 3-day stay, one of the two men's rooms never had toilet paper; in the other, the shower did not work. Ladies' rooms were operational, certainly not filthy, but not particularly clean, and the lingering smell of stale cigarette smoke was everywhere. When told a woman had fallen because there was a hidden hole in the grassy area behind the restrooms and laundry, it was not filled, marked, or acknowledged 36 hours later. Perhaps our experience was the exception, rather than the rule, because the owners were focused on completing an expansion of the on-site convenience store. For that reason, I would stay here again, giving them another shot. The on-site restaurant, Pop's Grill, was very good, especially the Margarita's. All utilities were functional and sites were quite wide. Most had grills, picnic tables, and gazebos. When weighing the good and the not so good, we think a rating of 7 is generous, because it has the potential of being a 10. We hope these nice folks get there.

Excellent campground! Level concrete sites, nice folks, fabulous desert landscaping, all utilities worked perfectly, beautiful adults-only spa separate from the pool, and they even have storm shelters for the frightening Amarillo weather (we had a hail storm that killed a vent, flattened the air conditioner intake, and put holes in the sewer hose that looked like a shotgun blast, but Dickey Stout RV repaired the damage on short notice). The rating of 9 rather than 10 is because the wifi was excruciatingly slow, and they were short-staffed, so the restrooms weren't cleaned as often as I would have liked and the clubhouse was open only intermittantly. Would stay there again if in the area. Note this place seems to go by two names: RVXpress and Oasis.

This campground is beautiful, peaceful, and pristine. Well worth the extra few miles beyond the RV repair place in Marion. The owners support the local community. They told us about the monthly Saturday Breakfast fund-raiser at Carson's Chapel. Amazing food! We followed the advice on their website and unhitched our towed vehicle in town. After scoping out the twisty route up to the campground, we had no problem with a 31' Class C. If we hadn't scouted it first, we would have been a lot more intimidated.

If internet access is important to you, this is probably not a good campground for you. Wifi is only available sometimes and only at one particular place in the pavilion. Unfortunately, that's also where there is a pool table, a juke box, and several video games that never stop making noise. The restroom stalls have really low ceilings, but otherwise, this is a perfectly nice place, especially if you have kids. We stayed 4 nights.

What a great place! We liked it so much we added an extra night to our stay. The owner is an absolute hoot! He's a local and will help you learn about the area if you're interested. He really takes pride in his park, and he's done an excellent job with the grounds. The landscaping flows beautifully into the adjoining town green way. It's a lovely stroll beside the river. We will stay here again.

This campground is perfectly adequate and easily accessible if you're having work done at Tom Johnson, but I found the owner rude. When he found out we'd stayed at a competitor's campground nearby, he started bad-mouthing them terribly. The restrooms were OK, but not great. There was poison oak all around our campsite. We spent one night and won't be back; we'll drive a few extra miles up the mountain.
